What's the difference between a floating and a flush mounted house number?

A flush mounted house number is the term used to describe when the number is mounted flat against the mounting surface eg your fence, and there is no gap between the number and the fence.

A floating mounted house number is a more modern style where there is a slight gap between the number and the mounting surface. This is achieved through the use of a spacer included with all orders.
